OFFICIAL VISIT OF
HIS EXCELLENCY RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN
PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY
TO MALAYSIA
9-10 JANUARY 2014

His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, will undertake an Official Visit to Malaysia on 9-10 January 2014 at the invitation of the Honorable Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

Prime Minister Erdogan and his wife, Madame Emine Erdogan will be accompanied by a 97-member official delegation which includes Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for European Union Affairs, Minister of Economy, Minister of Energy and Environment, Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of National Defense, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and several Members of Parliament (MPs) as well as senior government officials. 

The visit to Malaysia is part of Prime Minister Erdogan’s tour of Asia including Japan and Singapore. The visit by Prime Minister Erdogan coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Turkey in 1964.

On 10 January 2014, Prime Minister Erdogan will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at Perdana Putra. Prime Minister Erdogan is later scheduled to have a restricted meeting with the Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia, to be followed by a Malaysia-Turkey bilateral delegation meeting led by the respective Prime Ministers. Both Prime Ministers are expected to focus their discussions on strengthening dialogue and cooperation between the two countries, amongst others in the areas of politics, trade and investment, tourism, education and defense.

The two Prime Ministers are also expected to discuss and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. In the evening, the Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia and YABhg. Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor will host an official dinner in honor of Prime Minister Erdogan and Madame Emine Erdogan at Seri Perdana.

During the visit, Prime Minister Erdogan is scheduled to deliver a keynote lecture on ‘Transforming Asia Pacific and Turkey’ at the Tun Abdul Razak Distinguished Lecture organized by the Foundation of Research on Transformation (FORT) and Razak School of Government (RSOG). Prime Minister Erdogan will be conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Management by the International Islamic University of Malaysia.
